. GO TO CLASS and PARTICIPATE We realize that it is often hard to juggle school, work and family and that there will be times that you may not be able to make it to class. If you know in advance you will need to miss class, make sure to let your professor know as soon as possible and see if there is anything you need to do to make up the work. If you find yourself having to miss class at the last minute, email your professor.
Follow the Graduate Honor Code Read and follow the Graduate Honor Code. The following are NOT reasons to break it: pressure to be perfect, poor time management, you don’t understand the consequences, and any other reason.
Get to know your peers and professors Part of the reason you chose an in-person MBA program was the connections you will make with your fellow students and faculty. Get to know them. They will be great allies if you do need to miss a class or need additional help.
Use your professor's office hours Your professors are not just here for class, and they don’t bite. Use their office hours and get to know them outside of the classroom. If you can’t make office hours, contact them to see if you can meet at another time or through another method.
Read the emails from the MBA Program office Like you, our days can be crazy as well, but we do our best to keep you up to date with what you need to know to make the best of your experience. Please read our emails.
Schedule an advising appointment to let us know your intentions In order to meet your expectations in completing your degree, schedule an advising appointment and let us know your interests and plans. Not only does this help keep you on track, it helps the program office in planning future course offerings.
Keep your professor and advisor aware of unexpected difficulties Sometimes unexpected issues arise that result in not being able to keep up with your classwork. Communicate with your professor and advisor if you find yourself in this position so that we can determine best next steps and options.
Be aware of options if falling behind in class If you feel that you will not be able to complete a course successfully, contact your professor to see if there is any way to catch up. If that is not an option, talk to your advisor to see if withdrawing from the course makes more sense. You can withdraw up until the last day of class with the approval of your professor and advisor and it will NOT impact your GPA. Please see the academic calendar to determine reimbursement (if any) based on your date of withdrawal.
Have Fun It can’t all be about studying. Come by the social events throughout the semester and remember, we are in this together.
