Computer Requirements

Computer Requirements for the Virginia Tech Evening MBA Program:
PC or Mac
Most students come into the MBA Program with a computer preference and there is no requirement to purchase a particular laptop. If you have an older model, this would be a good time for an upgrade of hardware and software. You will use Microsoft Office 365 products and Outlook for your email in the program, in addition to analytical or business software as specified by faculty for a particular course.
Because the curriculum is quantitative and you will be using Excel extensively, you should be aware that while Excel is similar on Windows and Mac, they are not exactly the same. Some students have experienced slight difficulties on their Mac as a professor is running through problems in Excel using a PC during class. One solution is to run Windows OS on your Mac in a virtual lab.
