2 Factor Authentication

What is 2-factor Authentication and why is it important?
2-factor authentication is a method of securing access to Virginia Tech's online systems and stored information.
You will need at least one second factor device which is not your computer that you will use to verify your identification. This device can be a cell phone that can receive text message or voice calls, a smart phone with the Duo app installed, or a hardware token/key fob that can be kept on your key chain and carried around campus with you.
Virginia Tech's IT support, 4Help, strongly recommends having two of these second factor devices established in case one device breaks, is lost or is temporarily unavailable.
