About the Program

The Nationally Ranked Virginia Tech Online MBA (top 15% nationwide) is designed for working professionals who want to advance their careers while balancing their work and personal life. The part-time schedule allows full-time working professionals to earn an MBA while bringing new knowledge and skills to the workplace. Additionally, our program's impressive ranking as 12 out of over 345 online MBA programs, determined by academic leaders at peer institutions, serves as validation of its exceptional quality and excellence. This recognition not only enhances the credibility and prestige of the VT Online MBA but also signifies that our program is highly regarded by others.

The 24-month program is offered fully online with 50 percent of the program completed asynchronously and the remaining 50 percent delivered through a synchronous component during periodic class weekends. This unique format provides the flexibility for you to take classes from anywhere, while still reaping the benefits typically reserved for an on-campus program. You will become an active participant in class discussions and study teams, develop working relationships with your peers, and engage with Virginia Tech's top-notch faculty.

A hallmark of the Online MBA program is the cohort-based format. The program welcomes a diverse new cohort of students from across Virginia, the East Coast, and the nation each May. Students in the cohort take classes in lockstep throughout the duration of the program, allowing you to build meaningful professional relationships with your peers. We often hear that it's this network that helps students advance their careers, in both the near- and long-term.

The curriculum is designed to provide you with a comprehensive business education, while still providing the flexibility to tailor your degree to an area of particular interest to your career. Elective tracks allow you to further enhance your MBA by focusing your coursework in topics like cybersecurity, healthcare IT, entrepreneurship, or a global immersion experience with an in-person study abroad opportunity. Faculty in the areas are at the forefront of research on emerging issues and technologies in their field and provide students with current insight into private and public industry, government, and entrepreneurial solutions.

As an Online MBA student, you also become part of a vibrant community of Virginia Tech Graduate School students that are pursuing a diverse range of graduate education programs. While you spend the majority of your program in lockstep with your cohort, the elective courses in the second summer provide an opportunity to connect with professional students outside your program through shared online classes with our Evening MBA and Master of Information Technology programs.

When you receive an MBA from Virginia Tech, you join the vast Virginia Tech alumni network and Hokie Nation. With more than 100,000 alumni in the Mid-Atlantic Region alone, Virginia Tech provides you with the professional network you need to achieve your career goals both now and in the future.
