Virginia Tech has a long, proud legacy of support for veterans and active duty service members. Our military alumni and students truly embody our motto, Ut Prosim — Latin for "That I May Serve." For service members and veterans interested in earning their MBA, there's no better choice than Virginia Tech. Here's why:

WHY VETERANS BENEFIT FROM GETTING THEIR MBA

It's a common myth that all MBA candidates must come from a business background. At Virginia Tech, our MBA cohorts are diverse and include individuals from various career and academic backgrounds — including all branches of the US military. Whether transitioning into civilian life or building a long-term military career, an MBA equips you with the business and problem-solving skills you need to level up your career.

“Deciding to earn an MBA from Virginia Tech has been key to my successful transition from active duty,” says Raymond Banks, a current student in Virginia Tech’s Evening MBA program. Currently, Banks serves as a Strategic Planner and Program Manager with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. “The Northern Virginia campus is conveniently located in a market with lots of great career opportunities for veterans.”

Virginia Tech offers the following benefits for veterans and active-duty military personnel:

●     Application fee waiver

●     Post-9/11 GI Bill eligible

●     Specialists available to facilitate admissions questions, Financial Aid, and liaising with the VA

●     Alumni and current students available for support and networking

VIRGINIA TECH’S COMMITMENT TO VETERAN SUCCESS

To ensure the success of veterans transitioning to civilian life and academia, we offer a variety of resources to help veteran candidates make a smooth start in the MBA program.

Virginia Tech's Office of Veterans Affairs assists veterans, their spouses, and their dependents in navigating any and all available educational benefits. In addition, the MBA program office hosts regular webinars and events to share details about our programs and the benefits available to military applicants.

As a current student in one of our MBA programs, they can participate in our MBA Alumni Mentorship program to help them build their professional network and benefit from one-on-one support during their time in the program. Through this program, MBA students are matched with a graduate of one of the MBA programs based on their career interests. This graduate then serves as the student’s mentor.

“While I have found all the Virginia Tech staff and faculty to be very supportive, I’ve been happily surprised by the Alumni Mentorship Program,” says Banks. “My mentor has challenged my assumptions, identified opportunities, and really helped me refine my career path.”
